Reference

The stuff you may want later.

Battery and charging

Battery specs, charge indicators, and status lights.

MODI uses Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.7V 330mAh battery, a working voltage of 3.7V to 4.2V, and about 15 hours of continuous use.

  • Low battery: the LED flashes red quickly.
  • Charging: the LED flashes green.
  • Charging completed: the LED light turns off.

LED behavior

Light button combinations and on/off control.

  • Light + L (click): monochrome light mode.
  • Light + A: color breathing mode with a single click, or automatic seven-color breathing mode with a double click.
  • Light + B: single color mode with a single click, or automatic seven-color mode with a double click.
  • Light + X (click): top-to-bottom flow pattern.
  • Light + Y (click): double-tail auto cycle.
  • Double-click the Light button by itself to turn the lights on or off.

Sleep and power

Auto-sleep timing and full power-off behavior.

  • If the remote detects no Bluetooth connection for 2.5 minutes, it automatically goes to sleep.
  • If the remote detects no activity for 5 minutes, it automatically goes to sleep.
  • To disconnect the controller and turn it off, press and hold the Home button for about 3 seconds.

Firmware updates

How to enter update mode and finish an update on a computer.

  1. Open the upgrade file on your computer with the remote turned off.
  2. Press and hold the Screenshot button while plugging in a USB data cable connected to the computer to enter upgrade mode.
  3. Start the firmware update from the computer.
  4. Wait until the update is complete before disconnecting the remote.

Good default posture

The orientation that keeps the controls lined up correctly.

MODI works best held vertically with the D-pad facing down. That orientation keeps the button logic lined up with the expected Anki layout in both Keyboard Mode and Switch Mode.

  • If the buttons feel “off,” check the orientation before changing your bindings.
  • This is the same orientation used in the default keybind diagrams.
